Chile 2010

Chile is a country that has important celebrations, but this year 2010 is the most important of all because it was 200 years ago as an independent country. The day September 18, 1810 meeting was held the first national government that was initiated by Mateo de Toro y Zambrano addition to other members. With this event began a long and important process which led to our independence from the Spanish governors. For this reason, this year our country is party and have organized many types of events.

Although this year is the bicentennial I think has been a year quite intense and important events. To begin we note as a great and important event as happened on 27 February where our country suffered a strong earthquake caused a tsunami that later ended with many lives, homes and more. This caused much commotion and grief for what happened. However with our great spirit of solidarity we can move forward and organize a major campaign aimed to raise funds for the victims.
Another important event occurred in the north of our country, specifically in the Copiapo region where 33 workers were trapped in the mine "San José" and were trapped about 70 days there. The rescue on the 13th of October was a success and the capsule "Phoenix" was famous in all countries of the world.
Another important area that has marked our country was that in last year's election after 20 years of Consensus building was elected president of a different political side is "National Renewal (RN)" Although the elections were fought Mr. Piñera was elected with about 51% of approval of the people, leaving out the nominee Eduardo Frei. This provoked joy in some people and upset others.

Without a doubt this year has been very intense and clearly important events that have marked the country. Despite all these important events have left many sequels especially in those affected, but also in the rest of the country. In order to eliminate those consequences should work hard, but I feel that the spirit that has people of Chile is very strong and that spirit will be the tool that we have to get out adeltante and overcome everything that happened. However, this difficult year is ending, soon came the Christmas and 2010 will go. We hope that 2011 will come as things much better.

Dreams

Hi everyone today I will talk about dreams and the concept has evolved over time.

Dreams are mental impressions, usually unintentional, images or feelings that you have while sleeping.

But what are the mechanisms that allow us to build these images? And do you have anything to do with training images from our memory?

Both are very difficult to solve mysteries, because dreams are a very complicated field of study. Can not be analyzed directly, but always through the dreamer: every minute that passes, miss more and more details of what he dreamed

Scientific studies suggest that the ability to dream is a sophisticated nervous system, almost unique ability of mammals.

But with regard to the history of dreams, these are based, to various speculations. Since ancient times, dreams have been the subject of admiration and fascination for different cultures. These cultures, mostly seen in dreams, channels of communication with the gods.

This happened with the Babylonian and Hebrew culture. Similarly, the Greeks conceived of dreams as tools to foretell the future.

But over the centuries, the interpretation of dreams, which for many are keys to know better, took a more scientific twist. This was due to the study of dreams, by psychology in the twentieth century.

The dreams of the people are and can be interpreted. As in sleep, there is so disguised, the reality of desire. So, how is that one should interpret the dream. In any case, experts say, the best person to interpret dreams is the dreamer himself.

Wondering what they mean nocturnal occurrences based on our emotions and thoughts against them can be revealed the true meaning of these dreams for ourselves.

"Myths and truths about the human brain" (Dr. Maldonado)

Hi everyone!

Today I will comment on the exposure of Dr. Maldonado about the myths and truths of the human brain. The exhibition was very interesting because Dr. Maldonado made it clear some concepts that I did not understand.

Well, to start the Dr. talked about the size and shape of the brain, showed us several pictures with the aim of differentiating size and shape among different species. These differences were very marked in both anatomy and function, he explained that the brain more like the human brain was the brain of the chimpanzee. The functions of the brain explained that there are areas or brain regions that have different specialties, such as memory, learning, feelings, etc. Another myth is the constant comparison with a computer brain, at the exhibition of Dr. Maldonado told us that this myth is false, since there are important differences between our brains and computers, leading to conclusion that our brain is much more complex than a computer and has several unique features.

Dr. Maldonado also showed a graph showing the different mental capacities of men and women such that men have much more ability in math than women.

In my opinion, I believe this issue is very complex and unwieldy. However I think it is very important to understand the functions of our brain and its development throughout life, as this will be an important factor in conducting a comprehensive care and improve our professional performance in midwifery!

Hope you're well!
Take care
bye bye

Love really is like a drug :)

Hi everyone!

Today I will comment on an article that I found very interesting and pretty. The name of this article is "Love is like a drug really."Well, the article says that love partially blocks the pain in the same manner in which it operates an opioid analgesic and other illicit drugs.

This is link to visit it

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/oct/13/love-drug-pain-relief-cocaine

A team of neuroscientists investigaron on 15 American students who admitted to being in the passionate early stages of a relationship showed that feelings for their partner reduced intense pain by 12% and moderate pain by 45%.

The study consisted in showing eight women and seven men a photo of their partners, while applied dose of pain in your hands with hot probes. At the same time the students had their brains connected to a scanner. After the test, students rated the intensity of pain they felt.

The test results revealed that sentimmientos that picture was generated with their partners acted as a potent analgesic. In addition, brain scans showed that these feelings cause more brain activity than it has produced drugs such as morphine and cocaine.

This study also assessed whether the distraction of students is decreasing pain, for this was given as a simple mental tasks such as naming sports that do not involve a ball. The brain scans showed that the love and distraction are used for reduce pain although they act in different pathways in the brain

From my point of view, I think this study is very important and is reflected in our professional future, and we know the company by a partner during the childbirth significantly reduces the pain of the mother, which could be a theory to support this beautiful and important study.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as me.
Take care!

" Stress"

Hi everyone!
Today I will comment about the stress.
In our society it is very common to find people who go through a state of stress, this can be reflected mainly in people who serve in jobs that generate the most stress. For example, people who work in hospitals or restaurant jajajajaja.
In hospitals, we can find different stress situations in patients and health professionals.
Considering the general causes of stress include: hard work, personal or family problems, fights, discussions, indeed, any factor that may influence physical and emotional in the people. These causes produce symptoms that are identifiable in people with stress. Symptoms can be expressed in anxiety, depression, aggression, sleep disturbances, etc. and in cases where the stress is too high it can generate a disease that has a medical license as a solution or treatment with a psychiatrist or psychologist.
Stress can lead to significant consequences, which can worsen mood of the people. For example, among the most important consequences of stress are changes in the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and immune systems.
In our country, the rates are very high stress. This can be reflected in that 30% of medical licenses in Chile are working stress. Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) has identified this disease as the "epidemic of the century".

From my point of view I think stress is a very common disease especially in young people and adults, because they are constantly subjected to much study or work. This has shown me my college life. But I think we should face life with humor and joy to avoid being subjected to stress. In conclusion: enjoy life!!

See you soon
Bye!

" Levonorgestrel"

Hello again!
Today I will comment on the talk of Dr. Valenzuela made the day last Thursday. He talked on "Postovulatory effects of Levonorgestrel in Emergency Contraception".
In my opinion, the presentation was very interesting and especially important for our future as midwifery.

Well, in the principle of the presentation did not understand much because I arrived late and was difficult to insert myself into what Dr. Valenzuela said, but after a moment I understood the presentation. The presentation was quite clear and I could integrate some knowledge about "levonorgestrel" that I did not have. For example that "Levonorgestrel" is the main compound of emergency contraception, which in Chile is known as the " the pill of the after day".

In the presentation Dr. Valenzuela told us that "Levonorgestrel" is not an abortive , as its effects are preovulatory.
The administration of the pill must be between 0 and 24 hours after intercourse or maximum 5 days after intercourse. However, their effects decrease if consumption is later.

Well, I understand "abortion" to premature termination of a process of gestation. I also know that there are different types of abortion including spontaneous and induced abortion.
You can define as ectopic pregnancy to a fetus begins to develop in tissue other than the uterine wall either in the fallopian tube, ovarian or cervical canal.
According to the difference between anticonceptive and contraconceptive , I think that mean the same as both terms are aimed at the prevention of pregnancy.

In short, my opion about whether or not I supported the use of levonorgestrel I think it depends on the ethics and the concept of life of each person. Therefore the use of this drug is the criterion of who would use it.
see you soon
Bye!

"Horus"

Hello!
In this blog will write about a free theme, I chose to talk about one of my favorite bands. They are "Horus." Subjectively is my favorite because the band are some very dear friends jajajajaja.

"Horus" is a band of our country that was created seven years ago. This band was born in the commune of Peñaflor, in the city of Santiago.
After an intense search for his own musical identity, in 2007 adopted a musical style strongly influenced by the Funk / Rock. In the same year the band participated in the second festival of bands "Jumbo Plug and Play" where they were semifinalists to level of the whole country. The current members of this band are 5. Among them is Nicolas Diaz (vocals), Cristobal Olate (guitar), Diego Riquelme (guitar), Eduardo Ortiz (drums) and Javier Meneses (bass).
Currently the band is constantly involved in gigs and musical events.
From my point of view, I consider that "Horus" is a very interesting band. I have witnessed several musical events, and each time I see me produce feelings of fun and motivation to do many things. I think that happens to most people who listen, because in the shows of "Horus" all the people dance and jump without stopping until everything ends.
The last event they had was last Saturday at the theater "Cariola" street San Diego. A lot of people attended this event even though the entrance was a bit expensive.
Currently "Horus" has recorded most of their songs and are waiting for a record label to support it to record their first album.

I hope you like it!
See ya!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Hello everyone!

I will comment on this blog about my favorite book. My favorite book is Alice in Wonderland. The author of this book is Lewis Carroll.
Well, this book became my favorite book because it tells the story of a girl who lives several adventures in a strange place with different characters that make the book something really fun and interesting.
I read this book when I was 12 years and then I reread it in March before the premiere of the movie.
This book came to my hands on the recommendation of a friend. When I finished reading it, I recommended it to all my friends and family and even offered them to my cousin of 15 years for him to read.
Well, the truth is that this book does not teach concepts unlike many others, but provides too much fun and imagination. In my opinion "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" increases creativity from anyone to read it.
The plot developed in this book is about a girl who has an amazing imagination that creates many strange things that happen on an adventure. At the end of the book all the product of a dream of Alice.
She was in the park with his sister, Alicia suddenly fell into a deep sleep. In his dream he saw a white rabbit and decided to follow him, suddenly came to a den and began his intense adventure.

"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is a really interesting book, I think it was very important in the development of my adolescence.
I sincerely recommend reading it, because it is a book for all ages.

Blogs :)

Hi everybody!
Today is my last day writing blogs and guess what? This blog is about blogs and how was my experience with them.
Well, from my point of view, the methodological strategy of blogs is very good, because it is participatory and entertaining for students. Besides, it is fast and easy and you can add pictures, it you can not do when writing in a copybook.
With blogs I've learned enough vocabulary and grammar rules. However, the topics covered are sometimes a bit boring jajajaja, I would like to comment on things less related to the career or health issues

My experience with blogging has been good and bad. Good because it is very entertaining and quick to use the computer for homework and bad because sometimes I not have enough creativity to write about different topics.
I think the blogs of my classmates are very good and entertaining to read, for example when we had to write a story, Pia Suarez wrote a very entertaining that for me was pleasant reading. Also when we read the other blogs we know they will do our classmates in the future.

Well, in conclusion, my experience with blogs has been very helpful and pleasant, because the way of learning English in this way is very entertaining.

Thanks!

See you next semester

My ideal job

Hello everyone! Today I will talk about my ideal job

Well, once finished my career as a midwife, I want to work in the Hospital's Penaflor or Talgante Hospital.
One reason I like working in this hospitals is because they are close to my home and also because they are very nice. Both belong to the public health care system, which is where I want to develop as a professional.

I would like to work in childbirth. If so would have important resposalibilidades such as teaching to the expectant mother throughout this process and the first care that be given to your baby.
Regarding the schedule, I would like to work in comfortable times, the truth is that I never liked the theme shifts.
I would like to work from Monday to Friday, to rest over the weekend and share with my family.

These hospitals are very nice and attends for people who come from different localities as "Isla de Maipo", "El Monte", "The Paico" etc.
Most of these people live in the countryside, therefore are much more tender and loving. What generates these hospitals maintain a friendly atmosphere between all its component . This is the biggest motivation for wanting to work in these hospitals, which makes my ideal job.

The magician and the trapeze artist :)

Long ago, there was a sweet love story that developed in a beautiful place. This place was located between two high mountains and between many many trees. It was a small town where the people were very loving and preocuapada each other.
This town was called "bubbles of color" and here lived a well-known magician who was responsible to entertain and brighten every day to different people who inhabited this place.
But people did not know anything more of the magician, if had family, if he lived alone or something else of his personal life.

The truth is he was a very lonely man because he had a mission, he wanted to find the woman of his dreams, which so far had not met.

A sunny day, came to town a famous circus. Everyone went to the first presentation, including the magician.
Everyone was amazed and excited for another presentation. However, the magician was totally shocked with the beauty of one women trapeze artist.

The Magician she realized she was the woman who had sought all his life and was behind it. When they met she looked into his eyes and then went.
Days passed and she could not stop thinking about the magician and decided to leave in search of him.
Until one day, next to the turquoise lagoon met, held hands and realized they were completely in love. From that day began a beautiful love story, in which up to this day the villagers "bubbles of color " remembered as the most beautiful they have seen.

Education and Prevention

Hello everybody!

Today I will comment on the importance of education and prevention in health and specifically in my profession.
From my point of view I think that education is closely related to the prevention, so if people get a good education will be able to prevent and lessen the various factors that cause disease, thus improving their quality of life.

According to education I think you should investigate in what most affects the population to perform a focused education. For example, Chile has a high rate of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and that over time has been increasing. This is why we must take important steps in education and prevention. These measures should be aimed at people who are at risk for STDs, and more emphasis on the younger population.
This education must address topics like the use of condoms, the only sexual partner and any consequences that may bring the ETS. If eduacion is well made and directed, I am sure that these high rates of STDs would have a decrease.
Considering the prevention, I believe that our country is well done, as in clinics and hospitals are given condoms to the population and there sexuality courses where people can go for education.

It is important that as future health professionals we take into account this issue, as it is very important to educate moms on how to make proper care for their babies to avoid possible complications in the future.

Gender role in health

Hello! Today I will talk about gender role in health care!

Well, from my point of view I feel that my country has had a thought male chauvinist for a long time. Honestly I've never agreed with that.
In my opinion there should be equality between men and women, which currently does not occur.
Within the field of health, is clearly identified. For example, in the career of Medicine of the University of Chile there are many more men than women, and obstetrics of almost one hundred students, only ten are men, all the rest are pretty girls jajajaja :)

From my point of view, I feel that the gender difference is not relevant to the quality of professionals. which is why both genders should have equal responsibilities and should also have the same salaries. Clearly in our country that does not happen, especially in other jobs. The truth is that I have enough information of what happens with the salaries of health professionals, but I honestly do not think it's different.
according to the type of patients, I think there is a difference. For example something that happens in our professional performance.

Women are much more sensitive than men, this leads to in the most important moments of his life, including pregnancy and delivery, prefer to have next to professionals who are female gender, as it will feel more accompanied and comfortable. Is that moment is where our work as a midwife is very important to them and we must do our best.

Well, it's all for today
Take care

My future

Hi People!
Today I'm going to talk about my future as midwife.

Honestly I think a lot about my future and all I want to do.
Well, to start I think that to be a good professional I have to be very charismatic, warm and devoted because if I'm going to work in this area, I mean the health area, is required have all that qualities, because I'm going to work with persons. Also I have to be careful with the mother and the newborn especially.
When I finish my studies I want to work in the Hospital's Penaflor, because it is hospital where I was born and is near my house.
I would like to work in comfortable times, the truth is that I never liked the theme shifts.
I would like to work from Monday to Friday, to rest over the weekend and share with my family.
I want to work in the public sector, and just this hospital complies with these characteristics.
In the future I have to choose a specialization, frankly still do not know what will.
The options include neonatology , gynecology, obstetrics and public health.
I have not yet sufficient information on each one of them to choose at this time.
I hope soon jajajaja!

that's all for today
see you soon
bye bye!

Developmental Biology :)

My favorite subject is Developmental Biology in my first year in the university. This subject is the section of biology which treats of the development of the embryo.
The embryology is very important for my future as a health professional, to explain to the expectant mother what's happening with your baby.
The contents more interesting were the development of central nervous system and heart, although it was the most difficult. However the most easy to learn was the development of the limbs and organs.
Also I learnt how to calculate the age of the embryo and many of names of structures that are very difficult to learn.
Well, I had a lot of teachers in this subject, but Mariana Rojas was the teacher with whom to spend more time because she is my teacher practices.
I like this subject because it allows me to know everything about the process of the development of the embryo and how things happen.
My mark in this subject was of 6.0 which reflects everything I like this subject and my motivation for it.
In my opinion the biology of development is a fundamental subject for our future work as midwives.

Well thats all for now.

Auladigital

Well, I really don´t have a favorite carrer-related website but the one that I usually use is "aula digital".
Here is the link
http://www.auladigital.med.uchile.cl/

This website allows me get infomation about my classes at the university, my marks, the power points that my teachers use in classes and to know what´s happening with my class everyday.
This site has all my courses and also different sections such as teaching materials and students materials.
I knew about it from my teachers. They told us about the existence of this site and that we could get there just with our university passport. You just have to link the medicine faculty site of the university and at the left side of it , where says "pregrado", you click it and then at the rigth side of the site says "aula digital", so you click there and you get to the "aula digital".

I have to visit it every single day, because this website let me knows all the things that are happening with my obstetrics classes so is very indispensable check it out.

I like very much this site, because it is easy to access and obtain the material.

Hugs :)
bye bye!
